Climate Change: Hurricane Harvey
August 30, 2017
There has been false news stating that hurricane Harvey had affected climate change. The statement comes from the findings of the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s 2013 assessment report which they state that there has been an “increase in the frequency and intensity of the strongest tropical cyclones since the 1970s” in the North Atlantic Ocean. Another statement was made by Michael Mann who is a professor at Penn state who stated that "greatly expanded subtropical high pressure system” which means that hurricane Harvey did not change climate change but climate change was a suspect in why this storm did so much damage. Climate change did play a role in making the storm worse, as it has with other storms that had happened since.
