Kim Kardashian West calls out fake news regarding husband, Kanye West. “Yeezy Mafia” posted a tweet stating that Kanye West “had stockists show up to an empty showroom and didn't present any apparel or accessories for his label's seventh collection because he couldn’t do what he wanted to achieve with the line”. Kim quickly shut down the rumors by tweeting multiple tweets stating, “How can a verified account represent Yeezy with false information," she wrote. "You do NOT work for Yeezy and NOT affiliated. How are you gonna believe an account that posts fake colorways”. But Kim wasn't finished there, she went on to add that the abandoned showroom was intentional and that the looks would be posted online on her Instagram page.

India's "Fake News" Rumor
http://www.wired.co.uk/article/malaysia-fake-news-law-uk-india-free-speech

Malaysia has passed a law criminalizing fake news, with a penalty of up to six years in jail. Yet no-one has defined what it is (Johnathan Head). Which means that anything that the Malaysian government says is fake news, is fake news. While deeply evaluating the article, it (basically) states that the Malaysian government is hiding so much information from the people of their country, which is sad. To my understanding, fake news has deliberately effected different countries economies, which is understandable to have a law against fake news. With the potential ability to imprison, bankrupt or put journalist out of business for publishing poorly defined misinformation, there is enormous scope for abuse, of which the worse case scenario would be outright government censorship, impinging on human rights and make people's lives worse (Priday).

Sinclair vs Viewers: "Fake News" Promos

After reviewing many broadcasts, Sinclair Broadcast Group's viewers decided to criticize them about a story that they lied about; "Trump wanting to fire special counsel Robert S. Mueller, III" (Peter Stevenson/ Washington Post). Trump has allegedly responded to their stories via Twitter, stating that News Channels should stop putting out fake news. He proceeded to add on other news channels, saying that they are also known for putting out fake news for more attention. While reading the article, I was in shock. Who would put out false information? What was going through their minds? The situation caused conspicuous events to occur, including "Democrats withdrawing campaign ads from all of the company's news stations, in response to the fake news".

Did Trump Win the 2016 Election with Fake News?
Aaron Blake states that "His overriding fear seems to be that Russian interference and the 'fake news' it promoted would undermine the legitimacy of his election win." Some researchers at Ohio State University have claimed that some fake news has increased Donald Trump's vote count and decreased Hillary Clinton's vote count. What is the fake news you may ask? Blake claims that the 3 statements below are the fake news that could have won Trump the election in 2016.
- "Clinton was in 'very poor health due to a serious illness' (12 percent)
- Pope Francis endorsed Trump (8 percent)
- Clinton approved weapons sales to Islamic jihadists, 'including ISIS' (20 percent)"
