According to http://www.nationalreview.com/article/438249/charlotte-nba-all-star-game-cancelled-over-bathroom-bill , the NBA did not hold the all star game in Charlotte North Carolina due to the LGBT bathroom bill. This claim was made in April that the all star game would be taking place elsewhere if "law makers and Pat McCory do not repeal anti-LGBT law within the next month," (Badash). This fake news article started with a post from a journalist who staged an interview in April, saying the game was cancelled do to the bathroom bill, when in reality, the game wasn't actually moved until July; for different reasons. Once the word got around from the fake ABC news article, it began to gain popularity, as many people thought the story was real. This fake news story gave the NBA a lot of unnecessary negative attention, when the story was not real in the first place.
