Facebook users are sharing more fakes news this week.
This time, it is the return of anti-smoking legislation that bans smoking in
cars while transporting minors. The misleading news comes from lovethispic.com
where the site claimed “the law, that becomes
effective on January 30, 2018 is to protect children from secondhand smoking.”
The website goes on to explain that “violations would result in a fine of up to
$100.” Snopes and PolitiFact were quick to debunk these rumors as
misrepresentations of an Alabama bill that recently passed. There are not any
federal laws that prohibit smoking in vehicles with minors, and no bills are
currently being proposed on the issue.
