Pope Francis Speaks Out About Fake News; Rachel Wresh

Pope Francis recently released a document in January of 2018 comparing fake news to the serpent in the Roman Catholic Bible, saying that the serpent who lied to Eve was the start of all lies. He spoke out saying, “We need to unmask what could be called the ‘snake-tactics’ used by those who disguise themselves in order to strike at any time and place” (Pope Francis). The Pope took on the role as media critic in honor of the fake news outbreak occurring today and encouraged everybody to open themselves up to different perspectives. He also recommended to engage in educational programs and positive efforts working towards diminishing fake news.
