Clickbait

Oftentimes when thinking about fake news, we tend to think of news outlets that are reporting false stories. In reality, I believe that we are more commonly affected by another form of fake news. Clickbait is something that we come in contact with every single day. It shows up on our social media, websites that we visit, and search engines such as Google. Clickbait "are stories that are deliberately fabricated to gain more website visitors and increase advertising revenue for websites. Clickbait stories use sensationalist headlines to grab attention and drive click-throughs to the publisher website, normally at the expense of truth or accuracy." These are stories that we tend to fall prey to more than most. Be wary of stories that sound too good to be true, because they more than likely are.
