Craig Silverman, a buzzfeed news media editor, actually came up with the term “fake news”. He first discovered a false story, about an ebola outbreak in texas, in 2014, which he exposed by tweeting about it. After encountering a busting fake news over the past few years, Silveran stated in the headline, “I Helped Popularize The Term “Fake News” And Now I Cringe Every Time I Hear It.” He then goes over many fake articles that he has come across, which are mostly political. Experts say that he “helped generate the ‘fake news’ crisis.
