If Facebook says it, then it must be true

A sponsored ad on Facebook’s Messenger falsely claimed that William Shatner, the ‘Star Trek” legend, had passed away on March 21st. Surprised by this bold statement, Shatner took to social media and singled out Facebook for allowing this fake news to be posted. Facebook’s director of product management, Rob Leathern, simply replied with, “Hi, Im from Facebook. Thanks for letting us know about this. We have removed this ad and Page from Facebook.” Mildly offended by receiving a halfway apology, Shatner fired back with the best of responses. The response being, “Thank you. I’m not planning on dying so please continue to block those kinds of ads.”
