Fake news:
Fake news, or hoax news, refers to false information or propaganda published under the guise of being authentic news. Fake news is an inaccurate, sometimes sensationalist report that is created to gain attention, mislead, deceive or damage a reputation. Unlike misinformation, which is inaccurate because a reporter has confused facts, fake news is created with the intent to manipulate someone or something.
Fake news websites and channels push their fake news content in an attempt to mislead consumers of the content and spread misinformation via social network and word-of-mouth.Fake news was not a term many people used 18 months ago, but it is now seen as one of the greatest threats to democracy, free debate and the Western order. As well as being a favorite term of Donald Trump, it was also named 2017's word of the year, raising tensions between nations, and may lead to regulation of social media. On 8 December 2016, Hillary Clinton made a speech in which she mentioned "the epidemic of malicious fake news and false propaganda that flooded social media over the past year. "It's now clear that so-called fake news can have real-world consequences," she said. Leaders including Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte have also complained about so-called 'fake news'
