Snopes.com is a fact-checking website and is a widely known
resource for validating and debunking urban legends and related stories in
American popular culture, receiving 300,000 visits per day in 2010. It was
launched back in 1994. It is consistently included in the annual “Best of the
Web” lists and has been the recipient of two Webby awards. This site has been
referenced by news media and other sites, including CNN, MSNBC, Fortune,
Forbes, and New York Times. By March 2009, this site had more than 6 million visitors
per month. Even though there have been complaints of Liberal bias than Conservative
bias, FactCheck.org found them to be free from bias in all cases.
