In the beginning of February 2018, an article was published on the website World News Daily Report saying a Greenpeace activist had his arm bitten off by a great white shark "after [he] tried to give it a hug" in the Indian Ocean. This website is infamous for publishing misinformation and has a disclaimer on its site labeling its content "satirical." Still, some people believed it and it only furthered their fear of sharks and the ocean. The picture used for the article was actually of a man named Kaleb Langdale, that was bitten by an alligator in Florida in 2012.
