Beyond Fake News
Fake news can have many sources, and lack of knowledge or facts can lead to these ideas spreading faster than a wild fire. Fake news also comes from internet "trolls" intentionally misleading people with false claims and malice intents. However some fake news may be completely unintentional, such as the false missile threat earlier this year. A message was sent to people's phone in Hawaii from the Emergency Management Agency stating there was a ballistic missile threat and it was not a drill. This however was a false message which was caused by a mistake when "an employee...pushed the wrong button during procedures that occur during the handover of a shift." An email was sent 18 minuets later stating that the message was an error, and a mobile message was sent 38 minuets later stating again that the message was false. This message was fake news created unintentionally not by lack of knowledge or malice intent, but rather by human error, something you can't fact check until corrected.
