Has Pluto Been Officially Reclassified as a Planet?

On 29 January 2018, The International Astronomical Union (IAU) issued a press release stating that Pluto has been reclassified as a planet. Word quickly spread through social media such as Twitter and Facebook and people were excited. One individual even tweets, "Congratulations Pluto, we always knew you were a planet." Unfortunately for the Pluto fans out there, this headline is false. Ever since the IAU decided to classify Pluto as a dwarf planet in 2006, debate over the former planet has continued in science and media.
